At Orpington FC we treat the welfare of everyone involved within the Club as a priority, to ensure everyone is given the chance to enjoy the best possible experience in football. Club Code's of Conduct

At Orpington FC we treat the welfare of everyone involved within the Club as a priority, to ensure everyone is given the chance to enjoy the best possible experience in football. We all have a responsibility to promote high standards of behaviour in the game, whether we are players, coaches or parents. Below are our Code's of Conduct for everyone involved in the Club at different levels, please take some time to read through them to help understand your part in making Orpington FC the Club it is.  

Players Code of Conduct

When playing football, I will:

  • Always play to the best of my ability and for the benefit of my team.

  • Play fairly - I won't dive, cheat, complain or waste time.

  • Respect my team mates, the other team, my Manager/Coach and the Referee.

  • Play by the rules, I will always listen to the Referee.

  • Be gracious in victory and defeat - I will shake hands with the other team and referee before and after the game.

  • Listen and respond to my Manager/Coach.

  • Understand that my Manager/Coach has to do what is best for the team and not one individual player.

  • Talk to someone I trust or the Club welfare officer if I'm unhappy about anything at the Club.

I understand that if I don't follow the Code of Conduct, any/all of the following actions may be taken by the Club, County FA or The FA, I may:

  • Be required to apologise to my team mates, the other team, Referee or my Manager/Coach.

  • Receive a formal warning from the Manager/Coach or Club Committee.

  • Be dropped from the team or removed from the field of play.

  • Suspended from training and/or matches.

  • Be required to leave the Club.

In addition, my Club will make my Parent/Carer aware of any infringements of the Code of Conduct. The FA/County FA may also impose a fine against me or my Club for my actions.

Parents Code of Conduct

When watching my Son/Daughter during training and/or matches I will:

  • Remember that children play for fun.

  • Applaud effort and good play as well as success - from which ever team it comes from.

  • Respect the Referee's decisions. regardless of if you agree with them or not.

  • Remain behind the touchline or within the designated Spectators area.

  • Let the Manager/Coach do their job so not to confuse the players by telling them what to do.

  • Encourage the players to respect the opposition, referee and match officials.

  • Support positively. When players make a mistake offer them encouragement not criticism.

  • Never engage in, or tolerate, offensive, insulting or abusive language or behaviour.

I understand that if I don't follow the Code of Conduct, any/all of the following actions may be taken by the Club, County FA or The FA, I may:

  • Issued with a verbal or formal warning from a Club or League official.

  • Required to meet with the Club Committee, League or County FA Welfare Officer.

  • Obliged to take and FA education course.

  • Required to leave the Match venue.

  • Be suspended or banned from futures matches and Club events.

  • Required to leave the Club along with any dependants. If asked to leave the Club has no responsibility to return any monies paid.

In addition, my Club will make the County FA aware of any infringements of the Code of Conduct. The FA/County FA may also impose a fine against me or my Club for my actions.

Managers/Coaches Code of Conduct

When managing/coaching my team, I will:

  • Use my position to set a positive example for the people I am responsible for.

  • Show respect to others involved in the game including match officials and opposition players, parents and coaches.

  • Adhere to the laws and spirit of the game.

  • Promote fair play and high standards of behaviour.

  • Respect the match official's decision.

  • Never enter the field of play without the Referee's permission.

  • Never engage in, or tolerate, offensive, insulting or abusive language and behaviour.

  • Be aware of the potential impact of bad language on other participants, facility users or neighbours.

  • Be gracious in victory and defeat and shake hands with opposing player, coaches and the referee before and after the game.

When working with players, I will:

  • Ensure the well being and safety of all players.

  • Never engage in, or tolerate any form of bullying.

  • Ensure all activities are appropriate for the players ability level, age and maturity.

  • Co-operate fully with others in football (e.g. officials, doctors and welfare officers).

I understand that if I don't follow the Code of Conduct, any/all of the following actions may be taken by the Club, County FA or The FA, I may:

  • Be required to meet with Club, League or County FA officials.

  • Suspended by the Club from coaching and attending matches.

  • Suspended or fined by the County FA.

  • Be asked to leave/removed from the Club.

In addition, my Club will make the County FA aware of any infringements of the Code of Conduct. The FA/County FA may also impose a fine against me or my Club for my actions. My FA Coaching licence may also be withdrawn.
